Lengthen and twist your spine.

This course is all about finding the way to create space in the spine, by anchoring the thighs and then lengthening both the side body and the back. There will be many down face dogs and a lot of very specific lunging. Once the spine is cued to lengthen, then we will twist, a great way to make your back feel wonderful.

Lengthen and bend, bend and lengthen your spine

This course beings by noticing the length of the spine and then will teach you to maintain the length as you progressively bend your back. We will begin opening the shoulders and the hip flexes as we create the space and strength to balance the forward flexion of everyday life.

All about everything.

In these five classes we cover a bit of everything, each class a balanced class on its own, but also throughout the week we consider range of motion and strength and the balance between the two. You will find standing poses, seated poses and balances. This course will be a great “go to” course to revisit again and again to grow your strength, mind and body and to be curious about the connection between the two.

Cultivate balance

Balance is something you can learn to feel, beginning with the feet and working your way through the entire body. In this course we will work to shift the weight and still cultivate balance.

Down face dog tutorial – single class

Downward-Facing Dog – One of yoga’s most widely recognized poses, called Adho Mukha Svanasana in Sanskrit, works to strengthen the core and improve circulation. This rejuvenating pose works to provide a delicious, full-body stretch.

On the road to lotus/padmasana – a 30 min single class

This class begins considering the neutral placement of the legs in the pelvis and then develops the external rotation needed not only to open the hips but to keep the knees safe all the way to Padmasana.

New to Yoga

This 40 minute class is a perfect first ever Yoga class or a class to remind yourself how to get in to the Yoga zone after a break from the mat. This class starts right at the beginning with breath and core, and adds from there, considering both strength and range of motion in everything. If you have never done Yoga before or have had a break for a while, this will start you off perfectly. This class ends with a ready and 5 delicious minutes in Savasana.

Where do we begin? We begin by connecting your breath with movement and strength.

This course is perfect to get started on your Yoga path or to get you going again. Staying focused with the breath, movement and core are the primary themes in this program. You will work to keep your core strong and your attention grounded, breath by breath.

Balance – in all things, not just standing on one leg.

Balance is something that is cultivated and is very active. This five class course develops the stability and the awareness to not only shift the weight onto one leg without falling, but also balances the range of movement in the body. Foward, backward, side to side and twisting.

Release shoulder tension and create strength while stabilising your shoulders.

The shoulders are halfway between the head and the heart and are a place that many people hold tension. This course works to not only release shoulder tension but teach you to stablise your shoulders so you can grow your strength safely.

Explore your hips, balancing both flexibility and strength.

This course unpacks the curious balance between both strength and range in the whole of the hips. We will consider the front and the back of the hips in addition to the inner and out hips. In essence we will work on all the muscles that connect the legs to the pelvis.

Find Your Way to the Mat

Even though you know that Yoga makes you feel great, some days it just seems too difficult. I understand ! This course is designed to help you make or re find your Yoga habit with yourself with kindness and a gentle spirit. All 5 classes are seated poses and there is not a dog pose in sight ! It’s a gentle and simple course designed to make your Yoga habit, or to find your way to the mat when you are looking for a less energetic practice.

Children’s Yoga

These five Yoga classes are designed for young children. In these classes we learn to breath, to sit up with a beautiful happy back and tell a story with our bodies. We use our bodies with animal Yoga poses, frog, dog, boat and table to begin our story.

Improve your posture.

This course works to balance the forward flexion of life that can create a tight thoracic spine. What causes a tight thoracic spine? The most common reason is poor posture and not moving enough. Both of these are often caused by prolonged sitting at your desk with your back rounded, especially if your arms are stretched forward for things like computer work.

Back Care – Exploring the four movements of the spine.

This course is all about back care and backbending. We will explore the 4 main functional movements of the spine… forward, lateral, twisting and backbending, working both on range of movement and strength to keep your back feeling fantastic.

Open your hips and grow your lotus – a single class

This class paves the way for Padmasana, which can be a very elusive pose for some, and requires patience and great care of your knees along the way

Grow your hamstrings – a 5 class course

This course is all about growing strength and length in your hamstrings, to support the movement of your body in particular, the back.
We will work very specifically to engage the hamstrings actively to encourage their length and strength in a variety of seated and standing poses.

Backbends balance the forward flexion of everyday life.

This 5 class course, works to strengthen your back as you increase your flexibility in your both your front and back body. The combination will really help you to balance the forward flexion of your every day life.

Lengthening and strengthening the Psoas.

Our every day life puts us primarily in a forward flexion. Learning to open the front body, in particular the PSOAS, will allow you to extend your range of backward movement safely and efficiently. The overall result is balance, and balance feels really good.

Backbends for strength and movement.

This course works to set up the way we bend our back over a week of classes. We will begin by making sure that all the muscles that hold the leg to the pelvis are long and strong, and through the week unpack a number of gentle and not gentle backbends.
